In the poem ‘Trees’, the poetess Shirley Bauer describes our dependency and multiple use of trees in day to day life. Trees are our lifeline. Birds make the nests on the trees. Though we have progressed a lot, we are still dependent on the trees for wood to build houses. Children are very happy to play with the trees, and under the trees. The climb trees, hind behind the trees to play hide to seek. Children also make tree houses, swing swings on trees. trees also help to blow wind. Party-like people spend their time under the tree to make fun and enjoyment. But these trees are also catch the kites and disturb fun-loving children to make.
In summer we get relief from the hot sun by taking shelter under its shade. But in winter trees shade their leaves and we also crave for sunlight. These life saving trees keeps up in its lap like a mother. Most importantly, trees provides food in form of fruits like apple and pears. But people are selfish with trees. We cut down trees for commercial purpose and we are always in need of “TIMBER-R-R! When our mothers see and feel the beauty of the tree they demand these to be painted by artists. But fathers see that the trees have a lot of leaves. And it needs to put effort to collect leaves when these will be shaded in winter.

Ans: No, trees have not only one purpose to grow fruits like apple and pears.Trees are the saivour of nature. They are to give us air, oxygen, rain, shelter, medicine, fuel, furniture and everything we need in our daily life.
Yes, this line is used quite humorously to restrict the role of trees only to grow fruits. Trees have multiple roles in our lives and also in the environment.
